“Be The Change” you want to see.

This is the theme chosen by NAWIC National President, Riki Lovejoy, for the 2015-2016 year. I love this theme and believe that we can all benefit by working toward this idea. The amount that you put into something reflects the hard work that you put in, whether it’s in the industry, your profession, personal life, or NAWIC. If there is something that is not meeting your expectations, help to improve it and make it better. The great benefit of being a NAWIC member is that you don’t have to do it
alone, as you have the entire member roster to lean on and collaborate with to make these positive changes!

I hope you are all as excited for the coming year as I am, and are looking forward to our chapter doing many fantastic things “to enhance the success of women in the construction
industry”. We have an enthusiastic board of directors this year, with a lot of fresh faces, who will be leading our chapter in this charge for change.

Be sure to mark your calendars with the events for the upcoming year (a calendar is included in this newsletter and posted on the website) and plan to attend our meetings and events. A committee list is also enclosed, so if there is a program or event that interests you, please contact the committee chair and ask how you can help!

To get the year started right, invite your friends, family and co-workers to attend Brew Fest on October 15th. This is our ONLY fundraiser for the year, so it is important that we raise enough to fund our programming for the entire year! Support NAWIC and have a good time doing it!

I am honored to be serving the members of the Portland chapter as President and want everyone to know that I, and the board, are always open to feedback and new ideas. With your support, we can “Be the Change” in our chapter. Let’s make it an awesome year!
