SteepleJack Brewing Virtual Jobsite Tour
Presented by:
111-year-old Craftsman-era church in NE Portland was headed for demolition to make way for construction of a five-story housing project. Two men wanting to build a small brewery learned about the potential sale of the Metropolitan Community Church and jumped on the chance to save the church from demolition.
Wood from the pews is being recycled into tables, barstools and taster trays. Patrons will also be treated to a rare glimpse inside the bell tower as soon as they walk inside. Job scope includes opened up the 65-foot column and will install up lighting to call attention to the architecture. The feature is what ultimately inspired the brewery's name: a steeplejack, which refers to the person who bravely maintains the tallest pinnacles by ascending to their tops.
