Nicki Pozos brings a diverse background, encompassing a PhD in Civil Engineering and former work as a life coach. She works with HDR, focusing on water supply planning and client management. She aspires to be the world’s first engineering psychologist, bringing engineering thinking to understanding what makes people tick!
Transformation Starts with Meeting People Where They Are
Whether or not we are officially labelled a leader in our organization, we all encounter situations where we are seeking transformation of somebody’s thoughts, attitude, or actions. Alas, when seeking to change somebody’s mind, we often start from our own perspective. When we don’t get the result we want, we just turn up the volume. Effective transformation instead begins with meeting people where they are ~ what is their perspective, how do they feel about the situation, how energized are they? It is from that initial connection point that you have the opportunity to take them on a journey to somewhere new.
